Kumaraswamy to Contest from Mandya: Confirmation Pending
Bengaluru: Former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy has hinted at his intention to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha election from Mandya. Speaking to reporters, he indicated that he would make this official by this evening, following further discussions with party leaders and workers from Mandya.
Addressing the media, Kumaraswamy acknowledged the discontent among the people of Channapattana who wish for him to represent them. However, he noted certain constraints that have influenced his decision-making process. While not explicitly confirming his candidacy, Kumaraswamy subtly hinted at his inclination towards contesting from Mandya.
Furthermore, Kumaraswamy disclosed that the party has identified three potential candidates for the Kolar Lok Sabha seat. The final candidate for this constituency will be announced later today, subsequent to discussions with local leaders and party members.
Regarding the Hassan constituency, Kumaraswamy confirmed that the current MP, Prajwal Revanna, will seek re-election as announced by party supremo HD Deve Gowda. He emphasized his commitment to the development of both Ramnagar and Channapattna constituencies, attributing them as pivotal in shaping his political career.
Sumalatha Ambareesh who elected as an independent from Mandya Lok Sabha seat had expressed support to BJP just a few months back and she was expecting that BJP would nominate her from this seat. But BJP forged an alliance with the JD(S) has decided to leave three seats for the alliance partner.
JD(S) was reluctant to give away Mandya seat to BJP and finally, the saffron party agreed to the demand of it’s alliance partner.
